On Saturday, April 10, Ann Arbor City Councilmember Jeff Hayner (D-Ward 1) posted a quote attacking the press and also containing a homophobic slur in a Facebook group. He was commenting on a group post about an editorial in mlive about the hate-filled rhetoric that journalists have endured in recent times.
“The press is a gang of cruel f*****s. Journalism is not a profession or a trade. It is a cheap catch-all for fuckoffs and misfits–a false doorway to the backside of life, a filthy piss-ridden little hole nailed off by the building inspector, but just deep enough for a wino to curl up from the sidewalk and masturbate like a chimp in a zoo-cage.”
CM Hayner’s response to this incident is the latest in a pattern of poor judgement on his part, and we feel that this pattern of behavior renders CM Hayner unable to discharge his duties to the residents of Ann Arbor’s First Ward. Consequently, we have started a recall campaign which, if successful, will replace CM Hayner prior to his term’s expiration in 2022.
I spoke to Ann Arbor City Council member Jeff Hayner this morning. During the interview he used a homophobic slur and the n-word and said he doesn’t like to use hyphenations or euphemisms because “that’s just making the listener say it in their head.” https://t.co/F7Y3Gn7b3f— Samuel J.
